There was a good showing of URAC Members and guests in the Museum break room for the June URAC Meeting. The Speaker was AF6NA Brian Thorson/EMF Engineer from Edison. He gave a very good talk on different subjects regarding safety for Field Day. His presentation included a lot of informative graphics, such as never put up an antenna near power lines or poles. And when you're putting up the antenna and it looks like it could possibly hit wires, it's better to sacrifice your antenna (not you life). He also gave great information concerning using a generator in your home. One video showed what can happen when a line breaks at a power sub-station, resulting in a big spark which went up 30 feet. That video was shown twice, as it was a true look at the power which goes through high-power-lines and the result when something goes wrong. There were other videos as well. Brian gave a great program, and stressed that Feild Day should be fun, not dangerous. So go out there and have fun, and don't get hurt.
