On Monday morning, the Aircraft Carrier USS Abraham Lincoln arrived in the Port of Los Angeles for the beginning of Navy Week, followed a few hours later by the USS Champion (a Mine Countermeasures Ship). The USS Champion was the first ship to open for tours on Tuesday followed by the USS Abraham Lincoln on Wednesday. On Thursday the Destroyer USS Chaffee and Cruiser USS Princeton arrived.  They have since been open for visitors, and boy did it attract a lot of tourists to the harbor.

Parking was at the Cruise Ship Terminal from which guests were bussed to the Carrier. There were huge lines with up to 4 hours waiting for that tour, and almost the same for the other ships. I opted for a simpler solution; yesterday after my shift at K6AA I went on a Harbor Cruise from Ports Of Call. It was very enjoyable and they took you near the Carrier and other Navy ships, as well as the SS Lane Victory and scenic points of view.

This has caused record attendance the past few days at the Los Angeles Maritime Museum ... WOW!!!
