It was a packed room last night in the break room of the Maritime Museum for the October meeting. Our speakers were URAC's own Martin Hochman N6UB and his XYL Mary. They gave a very interesting program about there trip to Tanzania in Africa. There were many pictures of the Safari and great shots of the animals; from elephants to gators, hyenas and jackals, giraffes and the unforgettable big cats. There were a few pictures of local towns and some of the locals. Seeing photos taken from inside a huge volcanic crater, I would hope the volcano was asleep or dead. There were photos of the different camps they stayed in, it really looked comfortable. Martin told us that some days they had to wear long sleeve shirts so as not to get bitten by the Tsetse fly (which can give a sleeping sickness). In Africa for about 2 weeks, they had nothing but high praises for the (American) tour operator. Their group numbered 12, so with three vehicles they rode comfortably 4 to a vehicle plus a driver. Some of the dirt rodes appeared to go on forever.
Thank you Martin and Mary for a great program! It was really enjoyable .
