Following the main program and after the breaks, Martin N6UB and his XYL Mary gave a very interesting short program of their visit to the Northwest. Martin and Mary are fire lookout volunteers and they showed photos of some of the lookout towers; some were 80 feet in height. They showed the inside of one with the bed and a fire sighting tool (used to triangulate the fire's position based on readings from several towers). On this trip they also did some wine tasting and had some good meals along the way.
The last part of this presentation was from a race track in Fontana, near San Bernardino. They had the opportunity to drive different High Performance cars around the inside track of the raceway. Personally, I would have preferred the Oval Track, the the many turns kept them from letting their speed get too high. With footage from their dashboard mounted video camera, we got to see what the driver was seeing. Great Program!
