Ham of the Year Nomination Forms, due Oct 17, 2008. Be sure to read the nominating procedures before filling out the form.

Cabrillo Marine Museum Sea Fair, Oct XX, 2008. Celebrate the bounty of the sea with activities and fun for all - games, contests, music, marine-related exhibits, demonstrations, arts & crafts, films and videos. (Annual event, website not updated as of 12/08/07.)

Peninsula Music Fair, Oct 5. ENJOY a wonderful family outing featuring great music venues and delicious picnic fare. Palos Verdes High School campus, 600 Cloyden Road, Palos Verdes Estates, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

ARRL SW Division Convention, Sep 12-14. Mesa Convention Center, 201 N Center Street, Mesa, AZ 85201 (480) 644-2178. Forums, Exhibitors, Swap Meet, Vendors, DX Breakfast, Raffles, etc. Presented by the Amateur Radio Council of Arizona.

International Lighthouse Lightship Weekend, Aug 16-17. Over 380 lighthouses in some 51 countries participate - Sunday coincides with International Lighthouse Day. Organized by the AYR Amateur Radio Group, Scotland, "to promote public awareness of lighthouses and lightships and their need for preservation and restoration, to promote amateur radio and to foster International goodwill." ARRL Field Day, Jun 28-29. "...an annual amateur radio exercise sponsored by the American Radio Relay League which encourages emergency communications preparedness. It typically is the largest single emergency preparedness exercise in the country with over 30,000 ham radio operators participating each year." (Thanks, wikipedia.org/wiki/Field_Day.) Museum Ships Weekend, Jun 7-8. Must work at least 15 different ships of those participating, and submit a copy of the log, to receive a certificate.

Peninsula-Harbor CROP Hunger Walk, Apr 27. Register Noon, Walk 1pm; Pt. Fermin Park, San Pedro, 378-1953. Fundraiser for local and world-wide hunger relief. Contact Bev (WA6TIU).

W0S Special Event Station Apr 12-13, 96th Anniversary of the Titanic Disaster.
